Expensive groceries in Japan

I was asked to draw something for the magazine of Hokkaido University English Engineering Education Program (e3) 2 weeks ago, and I just managed to finish it this week hehe.The topic is about expensive daily stuffs in Japan, mainly related to food and groceries. The drawing below is what I just submitted to the editor. ^^

5000 yen is about USD 50. For a single rock melon! I have seen rock melon sold for around 8000 yen each as well! Crazy... Peach is also another fruit that is sold for like at least 400 yen per piece. My friend even posted a picture of peach sold for more than 1000 yen per piece... o.O That's why I didn't eat so much fruits here, I guess... ___ ___ !

When I was finishing this drawing, he sent me the draft of the article related to my drawing. I found out that the article coincidentally mentioned about banana being cheap in Japan, and rock melon sold for 10000 yen a couple. In fact I didn't know the content of the article before, but my drawing and the article are somehow related! ^_^

Besides banana, bean sprouts (moyashi in japanese) are also good option if you are looking for cheap vegetables here. In fact, I think it is the cheapest among all! What else are cheap... hm let me see.. tofu is not expensive compared to other stuffs. And then... natto (Japanese fermented beans) ? ^_^ If you can eat it, natto is actually a very cheap and healthy food very rich in protein, and it is said to promote naturally beautiful skin! ^^ I didn't like natto when I tried it for the first time, but after the second and third attempts, I like it so much.

Cold days on summer in Sapporo

I dunno why it is so cold today!!! >__< it was raining 2 days ago, but it was quite ok yesterday. This afternoon the weather was fine as well, but it's getting colder and colder when the sun set. For the first time after few weeks I really feel that I miss my (working) kotatsu again. I was tempted to turn on the heater again ... O___o ... end of June! Imagine!

My kotatsu is not broken, by the way. I still use the kotatsu but as a normal table. It's just when thesummer came, I took out the kotatsu cover, washed it and kept it inside the storage until the time when I need it again comes on autumn. In this case, I unplugged the electrical cable too, of course.

Okay, it's time to go to bed! I'm curling on my super comfy futon under my down blanket (on summer?? ^__^v) now, trying to post from my phone for the first time. I hope the layout will be ok.. o.O

Anyway... I'm getting more and more relaxed and sleepy while enjoying the warmth, haha.. So glad that I decided not to keep the supposed-to-be-for-winter blanket so early! I'm still using it everyday, in fact =P, although sometimes only to cover my legs up to my waist. ^_____^

Artworks for today !

Today is my friend's birthday. She was one of the first few people I met here, and eventually she became one of my closest friends. this year is the last year I'm going to celebrate her birthday in Sapporo i suppose, coz next year she will go back to her country after graduation. therefore... i felt like drawing something for her. It was quite difficult earlier because I like to have good concepts for my drawings all the time. However, I decided to draw the first idea I had about her in my mind, which is... this one !

I remember that she loves chocolate, and I caught her many times snacking chocolate in any forms in the class.. haha ! ^^ mmm... I got to enjoy too because she offered me some =P hihihi... *punch myself* the thing isss... she cannot grow fat after eating so much chocolate everyday !!! OMG !!!!

On the other hand, another good friend of mine asked me to help him drawing something for the invitation email of the event he is handling now. I was in a low mood last week and it was a bit hard to find some ideas for invitation actually, but of course I always love to draw simple sketches, so why not ? i said yes. Luckily he told me that I can draw anything I want. haha =P ... i just got this idea this weekend when i was thinking about the characters in my 'imaginary world', and my new character too, the sheep, so I decided to draw them. This is the result :

The sheep is another character of my boyfriend, actually ^^ poor him.. i always make fun of him by making him cute characters instead of cool characters... O.o .. Peace ! *hugs*
